Working Group NNPGs, Rengma Hoho hold meeting

Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): The Working Group of the Naga National Political Groups and the Rengma Hoho met on May 5 to deliberate on the prevailing socio-political issues facing Nagaland state.

According to a joint statement from the Working Group of the NNPGs and the Rengma Hoho, the meeting was held “primarily in consideration to the clear position and repeated stand of the government of India on the question of Naga integration”.

The NNPGs include GPRN/NSCN, NSCN (R), NNC (Parent body – Z. Royim/V. Nagi), NNC/NPGN (Hozheto/Tsanthungo) and NNC/GDRN (Kiumukam).

The joint statement expressed appreciation to the Rengma Nagas for their “unflinching support, contribution and active participation in the Naga National movement.”

“Pioneers like Rusilo Rengma, the signatory of the 1929 Naga memorandum to the British Statutory Commission for Naga self administration, will forever embody Rengma people’s spirit, will and desire for their nation,” the statement read.

“Despite the practical political position of the Nagas, Nagas are linked by blood and culture over a thousand years and therefore social and emotional integration must be pursued and maintained for future Naga generation to pursue their rightful place among the Nations of the world,” the NNPGs and Rengma Hoho further reaffirmed. The NNPGs and the Rengma Hoho discussed on various issues concerning Naga political solution and the latter extended appreciation to the NNPGs over the “positive steps” taken.
