Dimapur, December 7 (MExN): The formal launching of The Working Woman Project and Disbursement of grants to SHGs of 2 Dimapur II AC will be held on December 12 at SM College, PWD Colony, Dimapur at 11:00 am.
The Working Woman Project is a non-profit endeavour established in April 2018, with the aim to create self reliance among women from low income households in Dimapur. “It was founded by Moatoshi Longkumer, MLA of 2 Dimapur II, with the vision of our local economy driven by women entrepreneurs,” stated a press release received here.
It also stated that when the woman of the household is financially empowered, the benefits of it spread wider among the household as they are better managers of resources in most cases. It will also enable her to influence or make decision, increase self confidence, have a better status and role in household and community.
To initiate this change, a portion of the fund from the Local Area Development Programme Fund (LADPF) allotted to the MLA of 2 Dimapur II, will be used to fund 300 women SHGs (approximately 3000 households) in Dimapur. Each SHG will receive a seed money of Rs. 20,000 to start their venture. They will also be provided training on food processing, handicrafts, packaging, book keeping and marketing, the release informed.
All beneficiaries and well wishers are invited to attend the beginning of this venture.
