Kohima, July 5 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Forum Nagaland (SDFN), Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI), and North East Centre for Technology Application & Research (NECTAR) is organizing a two-day workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) on climate change at Capital Convention Hall, Kohima on July 7 and 8.
Chief Minister TR Zeliang will grace the opening ceremony as the chief guest, while Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar will chair the programme.
The objective of the workshop is to bring about pragmatic plans and policies for Nagaland and to strategize various measures to build a resilient Nagaland, stated a press release issued by Khrienuo Metha, NSDMA Secretary. The NSDMA and SDFN have sought participation and intellectual contribution from all the departments during the workshop.
The two-day workshop will also see intensive group discussions and thematic/ sessions on topics like ‘Opportunities for community centered DRR strategies in Nagaland’, ‘Data information and knowledge information for DRR’, ‘Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for departments and agencies vis-a vis DRR, ‘Emergency mass disaster response strategy’ etc.
PD Rai, MP (Lok Sabha) Sikkim shall deliver the keynote address.
