KOHIMA, May 11 (MExN): The Modern Montessori Teachers Training Institute (MMTTI), in collaboration with the Beautiful Minds Centre for Child Development, conducted a teachers' orientation workshop on invisible disabilities affecting school-going children in Kohima on May 10.
Bringing together preschool educators and trainee teachers, the workshop focused on raising awareness and building capacity to support children with conditions such as speech and language disorders, hearing loss, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and learning difficulties.
In her keynote address, Henwasin Sweety Lorin, Senior Audiologist and Speech Language Pathologist, underscored the critical role that teachers play in early intervention and diagnosis. “By educating teachers about these disorders and the importance of early support, we can provide children with special needs the best possible start in life,” she said.
The workshop is part of the Beautiful Minds Centre’s broader initiative to promote understanding of invisible disabilities. The Centre said it plans to organize more awareness and training programs for both parents and educators in the coming months.
