
Phek, August 17 (MExN): One-day orientation workshop on Kayakalp for the SMOs of CHCs, MO/Nurse incharge of PHCs was held at CMO conference hall, Phek on August 16.
According to a press release, the main aim of the workshop was to orient the health facility incharge on the objectives and scope under Kayakalp Scheme which focuses on promoting cleanliness, hygiene and Infection Control Practices in Public Health Care facilities and give cash awards with citation to those facilities that demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and Infection Control.
Speaking at the workshop Dr. Nungotso Vero, the resource person highlighted the participants on the main goal of its launching of Kayakalp by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
He stressed that the objectives of Kayakalp is to promote cleanliness, hygiene and Infection Control Practices in public Health care facilities. Also to incentivize and recognize such public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and Infection Control etc.
The health workers were also briefed on the awards criteria for application to the awards scheme.
Dr. Nungotso requested the health facility incharge to constitute a cleanliness and Infection Control committee at the earliest. He also stated that Record maintenance by the health facility is an important criterion for applying to the award scheme.
Dr. Vethihulu, Dy. Chief Medical Officer Phek during the training program called upon the health workers of all the health units to participate in Kayakalp which is an opportunity and a challenge for the health units to uplift and improve the health facility system.
She expresses and encouraged the health workers that if we give our best efforts and coordinate among the staffs the health units under Phek district can achieved the said criteria.
Sede, DPM NHM also highlighted the different categories for DH, CHCs and PHCs for award criteria under Kayakalp. He also requested the health units for timely submission of internal assessment to the district.
A practical session was also conducted during which the participants were take taken to DH and inspected the hospital upkeep, maintenance of sanitation, Bio-Waste management, infection control system, hospital support services and hygiene promotion which are the important award criteria.+6-9-
