DIMAPUR: People in Need Foundation organized one day workshop on Law and Rights for Persons with Disabilities on March 1, at Book Marc, sponsored by Shishuu Sarothi, Guwahati.
The legal cell of Shishuu Sarothi Amvalika was the resource person. She explained the different legislations on Disabilities. Persons with Disability Act 1995, National Act 1999, Mental health Act, UN Convention on Rights of Persons with disabilities, Rehabilitation Council of India Act. Over 70 Persons with Disabilities, Parents, Teachers and Dimapur based CBR NGO staffs (from Prodigals Home, Development Association of Nagaland, People in Need Foundation) attended the Legal Education.
The education on Laws and Rights of Persons with Disabilities, is significant in the context of general awakening of the public to the Disability scenario in the state.
