Mokokchung, December 4 (MExN): A workshop on mapping/identification of People with Disabilities (PwDs) on the theme ‘Accessible Election’ sponsored by District Election Office, Mokokchung was held at Town Hall, Mokokchung on December 4.
Delivering the welcome address, ADC & ERO, Mokokchung, W. Manpai Phom pointed out that workshop of this kind is an important program initiated by the Election Commission of India to identify PWDs and involved them in the electoral process which is a Constitutional Right of every citizens of India above the age of 18 years. He therefore called upon the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to acquire the necessary information during the workshop to identify PWDs so as to enable greater participation of PWDs in the electoral process.
Earlier in the programme, Supongsangla Jamir, District Icon PWDs, Mokokchung while delivering a short speech said all stakeholders in the society should work toward providing the necessary assistances to involve the PWDs in the electoral process. A special song was presented by Tiasola Imchen, District Icon, Mokokchung during the programme. AEO Mokokchung, Alila Chang, presided over the programme.
