Mokokchung, December 9 (MExN): Two days district workshop on Measles Rubella case based surveillance transitioning and Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) was held on December 6 and 7 at IDSP conference Hall, IMDH Mokokchung.
A press release from the Chief Medical officer stated that the aim of the workshop is capacity building of the participants on the Technical aspect and operational guidelines of case based MR Surveillance, to generate awareness on epidemiological aspect of measles & Rubella/congenital Rubella Syndrome and to orient the health workers on various implementation process of case based MR surveillance in their respective areas. The workshop was also aimed at building capacity on supervision and monitoring of MR surveillance system and the basic of AEFI surveillance, reporting and recording and AEFI cases, investigation and sample collection, causality assessment, roles of district committees, district response teams and various safety communications.
Dr Kibangkumba deputy CMO in his opening speech and key note address welcome all the participants and thanked the health workers for their relentless effort for the success of MR and also the Department of Social Welfare and Department of Education for their support during the MR campaign.
Dr Temsuyanger DIO (RCH& UIP) gave power point presentation on the role of AEFI committee, operational aspects of AEFI surveillance roles and responsibilities.
The resource person for the workshop was Dr Ushma from World Health Organization (WHO).
