Peren, July 6 (MExN): A one day workshop on Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign was held on July 5 at conference hall of Chief Medical Officer’s office, New Peren.
In the keynote address, Dr. Supongmenla, Deputy CMO gave an introduction to the Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign, informing that India is co-signatory to the goal of measles elimination and rubella/Congenital Rubella Control (CRS) control by 2020. She highlighted the objectives of the workshop and also the basic strategic operational plans for the MR campaign and the roll out plan with timelines and other guidelines, informed a press release from Pezanguno Celine Secü, District Media Officer, CMO office.
Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Tianu, who attended the workshop, encouraged all the health workers to work sincerely and with dedication for the success of the campaign and for the good of the people in the district.
Dr Asangla, DPO UIP/RCH highlighted about organising vaccination session sites, including injection safety & waste management in MR campaign.
Dr Albert, Medical Officer, CHC Jalukie briefed about the basics of micro planning for MR vaccination campaign, school micro planning, MR vaccine and cold chain and logistics management, AEFI treatment/ management during MR Campaign and FAQs on MR vaccination campaign including routine immunization.
Dr. Abhishek, RRT WHO meanwhile highlighted about MR: country update, elimination strategies, epidemiology and rationale for MR campaign, planning, recording, reporting and monitoring tools and communication for MR vaccination campaign.
The key subject mentioned in the workshop was head count for each and every village which is very important for micro planning, the release stated. The workshop was attended by District Program Officers, Medical Officers, nurses, pharmacist, vaccinators, District and Block Program Management Unit staff, NHM and DAPCU staff and also Imli Longkumer, Project Officer UNDP and Dr. Chapkelilakbo Dailiam, VCCM Peren UNDP.
