Workshop on Measles-Rubella vaccination held at Wokha

Wokha, July 7 (MExN): As part of National strategy to eliminate measles and control rubella in the county, Wokha has organized a district level workshop on July 7 at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference hall, Wokha.  

DC while addressing the gathering lauded the noble initiative by the Government of India and added that for the success of this programme, every stakeholder must get involved and have multi sector participation. He also said to achieve the MR target to cover 80% of the total population consultative meetings with the DEOs and CDBOs is very necessary and involve religion sector (churches) village functionaries and educational institutions for the successful implementation of the MR campaign.  

During the programme, Seema S. Koshal RRT-WHO dwelled on the objectives of the workshop, Measles Rubella, country updates, elimination strategies, epidemiology and rational for MR campaign, basic of micro planning for MR vaccination campaign, school micro planning for MR vaccination, MR vaccine and cold chain and logistics management. While Dr. Khelito Zhimomi, DPO-UIP/RCH dwelled on planning, recording, reporting and monitoring tools and rollout plan with timelines & other guidelines, Dr. Chibenthung, MO Humtso PHC spoke on AEFI treatment/management during MR campaign and organizing vaccination session sites including injection safety & waste management in MR campaign and Dr. Kuokholie Savino, RBSK-MO Wokha emphasized on the importance of FAQs on MR vaccination campaign including routine immunization and advocacy communication and social mobilization for MR vaccination campaign.  

Altogether 42 participants including units, Medical Officers, representatives from CHC, PHC Army hospital, NEEPCO hospital, BACs and BPMs attended the one day workshop. Chief Medical Officer, Wokha Dr. Robin Lotha delivered the welcome address.
