Medziphema, May 20 (MExN): The workshop on accounting, auditing and taxation was held at CTC Medziphema, organised by the Department of Cooperation from May 20 to 24. 

At the inaugural programme, a DIPR report stated that the Under Secretary, Department of Cooperation, Wacy Kent while speaking as a Special Guest lauded the department for organising such an important program, which aims to equip the department officials in executing their activities with confidence. He also expressed that Cooperative awareness and sensitisation should be taken up so as to educate and impart trainings to the people at the grassroot level and to have a meaningful impact in the lives of rural populace. He was hopeful that such initiatives would bring positive results in the process of promoting Cooperative Movement in the state.

Earlier, the keynote address was delivered by Finance Trainer, National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), New Delhi, Anurag Dang and short exhortation was proposed by Addl. RCS, Bendangla Longkumer.

The subjects undertaken during workshop were:- To equip participants with the necessary skills required to prepare and maintain accurate accounting records, To enable participants to effectively prepare and interpret financial statements, To provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of relevant provisions of the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, as applicable to the state of Nagaland, To equip participants with the necessary skills required to conduct audits of Cooperative Societies and To enhance participants auditing skills by providing insights into legal provisions governing audits, audit classification of societies using CAMELS rating, audit reporting etc.

The programme was chaired by Deputy RCS & Training Coordinator, Bharati Chhinal. Altogether 63 ICS, SRCS and ARCS have attended the workshop, which will culminate on May 24.
