Phek, May 31 (MExN): Workshop on decoupage, a skill development training for women and girls under Phek district was organised by the District Administration and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Phek under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, at Phek Town Council Hall on May 31.
Deputy Commissioner Phek, John Tsulisie Sangtam graced the occasion. The objective of the workshop is to empower women through skills development and to make them economically independent and self reliant.
He stated that women are the backbone of the family's economy, and encouraged the trainees to be sincere, dedicated and to make the best use of the skills received during the workshop. The resource person, who is the proprietor of Hobbylane@2020 was Diethoseno Whiso. She shared about Decoupage, its uses and applicability and encouraged the trainees to have hobbies that can support them financially. Hands on training for Decoupage was conducted alongwith the participants. Altogether around 35 trainees attended the workshop. The participants decoupaged on straw basket, wooden spoon and tea coaster. The programme was chaired by Vilenuo Kapu, District Mission Coordinator (DHEW), Phek.
