Workshop on ‘gender planning and gender budgeting’ conducted

Kohima, September 8 (MExN): The Task Force organised a two-day workshop on ‘Gender Planning and Gender Budgeting’ from September 7 – 8. The workshop was conducted over “engendering the state and district plans” for HODs and officers dealing with planning and budgeting of selected departments. 

The programme was preceded by a sensitisation programme for Administrative Heads of Departments (AHODs) and Head of Departments (HODs) at the secretariat conference hall. This has been informed here in a press release issued here by Neilavou Keditsu, member secretary of ESDP.

The Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner stated: “There are two aspects of development i.e. economic development and social development, the latter of which is human development and women development in particular.” 

In this connection, he also emphasised that engendering the state plans is not a question of allocating a separate budget for women but how much departments recognise as needs to help evolve the potentials of women to participate as equal partners in the process of development.

The press note further added that the main resource person, Shridhar Seetharaman, Training Coordinator of NIRD, Guwahati made a presentation on gender analysis, different stages in gender planning, gender budgeting and case studies.

Dr. Kedise Pucho senior Lecturer also made a presentation on importance of human development and another presentation on gender development approach was given by Chozüle Kikhi, Deputy Director of Horticulture Department.

It also stated that the programme was chaired by Banuo Z Jamir, Additional Chief Secretary of School Education. 

Meanwhile, it added that Lathara Chief Secretary of Nagaland exhorted the participants to seriously take into consideration the aspects of gender issues while preparing their respective department plans.
