Wokha, February 25 (MExN): A workshop on promoting “Made in Nagaland” was conducted in Wokha district under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative, with the objective of strengthening local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by enhancing their competitiveness, sustainability and market expansion potential.

The programme brought together aspiring and existing entrepreneurs and provided a platform to deliberate on opportunities, challenges and growth strategies for locally produced goods.

A special session on “Make in Nagaland” focused on promoting locally manufactured and indigenous products through improved branding, packaging, quality standards and effective market positioning. Entrepreneurs were encouraged to explore wider markets beyond the district and the state. The deliberations stressed self-reliance, value addition and the need to build a strong identity for products made in Nagaland.

Special emphasis was laid on business scaling and sustainability. The technical expert session was led by Thunglamo Humtsoe, founder of Urban Growers — the state’s first commercial hydroponics farming initiative — and also founder of TM Hydrocultivation Solution Pvt Ltd.

Humtsoe highlighted key aspects of MSME profitability, raw material procurement and maintaining quality control checklists. Each participating MSME was encouraged to identify at least one area of improvement within their enterprise. Discussions centred on enhancing productivity, maintaining quality standards and developing scalable, sustainable business models aligned with evolving market demands.

RAMP is a World Bank-supported programme implemented by the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) and the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland.
