DIMAPUR, March 16 (MExN): Dimapur 24/7 organized a workshop on men’s mental health at KPCI - Vision Success Institute in Dimapur on Saturday, aiming to address stigma, explore psychological challenges, and foster open discussions on the issue.

Alokali Zhimomi, a pastoral counselor with degrees in theology and divinity, led the session, offering insights into stress management and emotional well-being. She emphasized how societal stigma, ego, and emotional barriers often discourage men from seeking help. Encouraging open dialogue, she urged participants to challenge traditional notions of masculinity that inhibit emotional expression.

“The societal pressure on men to suppress their emotions has long been a barrier to their mental well-being,” Zhimomi said. “It is time we create spaces where men feel safe to share and seek help without fear of judgment.”

The workshop drew participation from college students, teachers, and executive members of Dimapur 24/7. Attendees engaged in discussions, shared personal experiences, and highlighted the need for more conversations on men’s mental health.

Annie Jain, chairperson of Dimapur 24/7, underscored the lack of attention given to men’s mental health and called for government authorities and educational institutions to conduct awareness drives in schools and colleges across Nagaland. She also pointed to the gap between personal awareness of mental health issues and the professional guidance available, stressing the need for expert intervention.
