An awareness workshop on “Preparing for Working in Japan” under the Japanese Endowed Courses (JEC) lecture series of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry was held in Dimapur on July 18.
DIMAPUR, JULY 18 (MExN): In an initiative aimed at opening global employment avenues for the youth of Nagaland, NITI Dimapur Centre, in collaboration with the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), on Friday organised a free awareness workshop on “Preparing for Working in Japan” under the Japanese Endowed Courses (JEC) lecture series of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The workshop, held at Marwari Patti Center, Dimapur, drew over 100 students, academicians and administrators, exploring career opportunities in Japan—a country with cultural values, food habits and lifestyle that resonate with the Naga community.
The programme was led by Prof Tomio Isogai, a noted Japanese expert and mentor, who highlighted Japan’s growing demand for young, skilled professionals. He noted that Nagaland’s youth—with their agility, hospitality and eagerness to grow—are well positioned to succeed in Japan’s work environment.
Prof Isogai was joined by Mohita Modgill, AOTS JEC Coordinator, and Pursenla Jamir, Manager at AOTS India Office. The team shared guidance on building careers in Japan through Japanese language learning, adapting to Japanese work culture and participating in government-supported skill programmes.
Earlier, Rishav Sethi, CEO of NITI Nagaland, delivered the welcome address, emphasising the importance of global exposure and NITI’s mission to empower students through skill-based education that transcends borders.
Ajay Sethi, Managing Director of NITI Nagaland, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Japanese dignitaries and participants, and reaffirmed NITI’s commitment to fostering international career opportunities for youth from Northeast India.
The event was anchored by Ujala Dey.
Leaders and representatives from partner institutions, including Norman Putsure College and Pilgrim Higher Secondary School, attended the event and expressed interest in future collaborations.
Among those who addressed the gathering were Regional Employment Exchange Officer Imli Mongzar; MD of Norman Putsure College Sani Putsure; Admin and Principal of Pilgrim Higher Secondary School Bithungo Kikon and Kaini Khekho Kikon; and Bethesda Youth Welfare Center’s President Zubenthung Humtsoe. All dignitaries were felicitated by Ajay Sethi on the occasion.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all participating schools, colleges, NGOs and individuals who attended the programme at short notice, and acknowledged the efforts of Team NITI in organising the event in a professional manner.
