Workshop on Pediatric Disorders and Rehabilitation conducted

Dimapur, December 10 (MExN): One day workshop on Pediatric Disorders and Rehabilitation was conducted on December 7, at Nikos Hospital organised by Physionique Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre (PPRC), Dimapur. The programme was chaired by Dr Frieda Bokali Engheepi (PT) .

A press note stated here that the guest speaker Dr Apong Longchar, Paediatrician, Nikos Hospital shared his perspective on Paediatric disorders and Physiotherapy which he emphasized on various conditions that require Physiotherapy management like CP, Down Syndrome, Erbs Palsy, Spinal infections, Muscular Dystrophy etc. He also stated that there is a communication barrier between the Paediatrician and the Physiotherapist which needs to be solved for a smooth and successful outcome. He also encouraged the organisers to conduct more workshops in collaboration with the Paediatrician.

  Dr Kavitha Raja (Phd) from Mysore explained in detail about Cerebral Palsy and Physiotherapy intervention through life span. She also stated that these children have the basic right to be educated and to be treated as equal as any other normal children in the society.  

Dr Priyanka (PT) spoke on the current evidence based treatment for the same.

Dr Srilatha explained about the developmental coordination disorders (DCD) which is a little known Paediatric ailment the symptoms of which are often overlooked by parents/caretakers and about how we can identify the symptoms early on and its intervention criteria.
