Workshop on preservation of folklore & traditional practices

Peren, October 1 (MExN): A one day workshop on ‘Preservation of folklore & traditional practices’ was held at Peletkie village in Peren district on September 29 under the aegis of Research, Consultancy & Extension Cell of Peren Government College.  

Folklores of Peletkie village, traditional practices and customary laws of the village, talks on genesis of the village and Peletkie salt spring as one of the mainstays of the village economy were presented by a panel of resource persons comprising Ariang, Hangchiam, Wilamke, Teiriesong, Apun and Reluibuing, a press release informed.  

The workshop was chaired by Yechi Vero, Asst. Professor and moderated by Dr. Changneu Ndang, Asst. Professor and Kangyichule Hegui, Asst. Professor, while the Vice-Principal of Peren Government College, Albert proposed the vote of thanks.  

Apart from Peletkie villagers, the workshop was well attended by the faculty members and students of Peren Government College.   The press release mentioned that Peren Government College has adopted Peletkie village for the year 2016-2017, during which period, various programmes are proposed to be undertaken in the village. The college has also proposed to publish a book on Peletkie village by the second half of 2017.
