Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): Workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013, organized by the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) on March 26 and 27 was conducted at Government Polytechnic Institute, Kohima and District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Chiechama.
SRCW has been empanelled by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI to impart training programmes and workshop on the Act. The Act was enacted to ensure safe working spaces for women and to build enabling work environments that respect women’s right to equality of status and opportunity.
The resource persons were Gracy Aye, Meneno V, Lanuienla Imchen, Renthunglo Kikon and Jitsiasa Nyusou from SRCW and WHL- 181. IEC materials were also disseminated. The participants included the students, trainees and faculties of the institute.
Keyiekhru Rhutso, Principal Government Polytechnic Institute, Kohima acknowledged the SRCW for creating awareness on significant issues related to women and that the Institute will strengthen their Redressal mechanism. Vice Principal & faculties of DIET, Chiechama, shared that this workshop was a first of its kind for the institute and further noted that they will work towards setting up Internal Complaints Committee as prescribed in the Act to make the institute a safer place for women.
