Workshop on spices cultivation in Nagaland State underway

Medziphema, November 21 (MExN): The AICRP on Spices, Nagaland Centre, Department of Horticulture, NU: SASRD, Medziphema Campus is organising workshop on ‘prospects and promotion of spices cultivation in Nagaland’ on November 21 and 22, sponsored by ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode, Calicut.  

The technical sessions of the workshop will cover the management (Production, Pest and Disease), processing and value addition of ginger, turmeric and black pepper. Four Principal Scientists, Dr. V. Srinivasan, Dr. C.N. Biju, Dr. K. Kandiannan and Dr. P. Rajeev from IISR, Kozhikode, Calicut will be the resource persons.  

The inaugural programme of the workshop held today had Prof R.C Gupta, Dean, NU: SASRD as the chief guest. A brief highlight on the workshop was given by Dr. C.S Maiti, Co-ordinator and Project In-charge, AICRPS, Nagaland Centre and Dr. P. Rajeev, Nodal officer-NER, IISR, Calicut.  

A total of 59 participants registered for the workshop - 17 officials from various departments (Agri., LRD, Horti and Women Resource Development) & institutions (Spices Board and KVK), two SHGs and 40 farmers from Dimapur and Peren.
