Aims to connect academicians globally

Providing a common platform for academicians across the world to promote meaningful academic interaction, knowledge sharing, and collaboration, World Academic Centre (WAC), was formally inaugurated at a virtual event by Prof Murari Lal Gaur, Vice Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Assam (India) on September 26.
Founded by Prof Zavise Rume under the theme, “Knowledge Society", WAC currently has representation of 11 countries including India, US, France, South Korea, China, Palestine, Portugal, Israel, Nepal, Indonesia, and Australia.
Speaking about the vision, mission and objectives of the newly inaugurated centre, Prof Zavise Rume, Chairman, World Academic Centre (WAC) said that its vision is to provide a common platform for academicians across the world, to promote and to share intellectual resources of their respective country towards creating a global knowledge society while terming the inauguration as a "historic occasion."
The concept note of the WAC stated that, "as the world moves towards an increasingly interconnected knowledge society, the global academic landscape is changing rapidly" while highlighting that academicians, as creators, custodians, and disseminators of knowledge have a collective responsibility to foster intellectual exchange, promote academic collaboration, and contribute to building a knowledge-driven society.
In his inaugural address, Prof Murari Lal Gaur, Vice Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Assam (India) urged on developing a culture based on three principles, namely, connect, collaborate and create. He exuded hope that WAC would be a bridge between universities, between disciplines, between generations of scholars, and between ideas and possibilities. He also stated hope for it to be a lasting culture of intellectual exchange.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Wael Mustafa Abuhasan, PhD, Clinical Health Psychologist.
Department of Health Sciences, Allied Medical College, Arab American University, Palestine remarked that it is a beginning of an important intellectual journey.
Stating that we live in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), he however said that we must neither fear it nor surrender to it but use AI responsibly while relying on human wisdom and judgement, creativity and ethics.
The true measure of academicians, he said lies in how much knowledge they create and how many minds they inspire and in this regard, added, "let us become its architects."
During the inauguration ceremony, Prof Panch Ramalingam, International President, Asia Pacific School Psychology Association and Prof Visier Sanyü, Former Professor, Department of History & Archeology Nagaland University (India) delivered greetings.
Other highlights of the programme included Introduction of WAC Members by Dr Bongliba Sangtam, Research Scientist, HITSZ, China (General Secretary, WAC) and Concluding Remarks by Dr Rashmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, Nagaland University (India).
