The Altruist Society Chetheba, in collaboration with the Chetheba Town Students Union, celebrated World Environment Day 2024 on June 5 in Chetheba Town, Phek district. Approximately 200 fruit saplings were planted along the National Highway-702A, from Government Polytechnic College to Khüsuntüka. The saplings were donated by Forest Range Officer Chozuba Kezhawetuo.
Along with the rest of the world, the 38 Assam Rifles, Phek celebrated the World Environment Day on 5 June 2024 by organising an extensive tree plantation and cleanliness drive at the bordering villages of Akhen, Ziphu, New Thewati, Avangkhu, and Meluri. The event saw participation of 220 students, 82 civilians, 346 soldiers, and 50 families, resulting in the successful planting of 6,100 saplings.C-Edge College observed World Environment Day on June 5, based on the theme ‘Land Restoration, Desertification & Drought Resilience’ with Lanthou Mark Gonmei, Programme Manager, SBI Gram Saksham Project Chümoukedima, AIDA Don Bosco, Dimapur as special guest speaker. The programme was concluded with a pledge by all the members who were present by assuring to be responsible citizen and a fine planet warrior.The World Environment Day-2024 observation at Intanki National Park on June 5 was marked by volleyball tournament of among 11 Intanki fringed villages at Manglumukh village. Inbung village bagged the first prize followed by Daniel and Pehllang village for 2nd and 3rd prize. Vedpal Singh, Chief Wildlife Warden, Nagaland graced the occasion as special guest. The establishment of Nagaland Zoological Park celebrated the World Environment Day 2024 on June 5 with a cleanliness drive with special emphasis to clear the Zoo area of plastic rubbishes. Plantation Drive was also carried out along the Zoo avenues led by the Zoo Director Dr C Zupeni Tsanglai and RFO Watisungla Amer along with officers and staff of zoo. The day ended with a total of 420 visitors (approx) including 5 schools and colleges visiting the park availing free entry pass announced in the media earlier.On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) planted around 500 saplings planted across various cricket venues. The plantation drive took place at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima Cricket Ground, and the site of NCA’s upcoming second cricket ground. The Forest Department Nagaland provided the saplings.The World Environment Day 2024 was celebrated at Nagaland University headquarters Lumami with Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, as the Chief Guest. The event also featured special performances by students and scholars of Nagaland University as well as plantation of trees. Phek Government College observed World Environment Day on the June 5 with a programme based on the theme followed by a plantation drive at the college Botanical garden. Saplings of Bauhinia, Cephalotaxus, Prunus cerasoides and Thuja which were provided by the office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Phek were planted during the drive. NSS of the college also took part in the plantation drive along with the staff and students.
