Peren, November 23 (MExN): The Jalukie Valley Fishery Co-operative Society in collaboration with the Department of fisheries and Aquatic Resources Peren, celebrated World Fisheries Day 2025 at Kevipele fishery, Kaleilwa ward Jalukie town in Peren district on November 21.
Deputy Commissioner Peren Hiazu Meru, grace the occasion as the special guest. In his address, Meru highlighted the importance about the sustaining fisheries management in the district, and encouraged the gathering to go back to nature and conserve the aquatic and ecosystem. He also mentioned that Peren district is such a good fertile land and further encouraged the general public to be very sincere on their part.
He also informed that the forthcoming Unity Mini Hornbill Festival in Peren district will commence from December 4 to 6, urging everyone to come and participate and witness and to create more unity.
Earlier, president Anglers Association Nagaland (AAN) Mhonbemo Ngullie and Neitho- o Kuotsu joint Director Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Government of Nagaland also encouraged the citizen to generate more fish from which one can grow their economy for their livelihood. They also encouraged the fish farmers to encourage one another and spread awareness of the value and important of rearing fish.
The event was marked with different competition such as Angling and snail eating. In the celebration of World Fishery Day, the Peren District Anglers Association (PDAA) was also launched and was formally declared by the special guest.
