World Glaucoma Week observed in Longleng

Kohima, March 13 (MExN): The District Health Society, NPCB & VI Longleng observed World Glaucoma Week on March 13 at the District Hospital Longleng under the theme ‘Uniting for a Glaucoma Free World.’

The programme began at 10:00 AM at the District Hospital premises. It was chaired by Baulen, Data Manager (OST), while the invocation was delivered by Bingmei, NCD Counselor.

During the programme, Dr. Thejavituo Kire, Junior Eye Specialist at District Hospital Longleng, delivered a brief talk on glaucoma. He spoke on the importance of early detection, regular eye check-ups, and awareness about the disease to prevent vision loss.

He informed that glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness but can be managed effectively if detected early. He also spoke about the symptoms, risk factors, prevention, and treatment of glaucoma.
