Morung Express News Dimapur | June 21   It was a night to remember for music lovers and artistes alike as the Agri Expo site here exploded with the sound of music on the occasion of World Music Day.   An array of local musicians and guest guitar guru from the US, Neil Zaza, enthralled the audience with foot thumping and non-stop music that echoed in the hearts of the audience long after the music stopped playing.   Imtiakum kicked off the evening show with the popular Young the Giants’ hit ‘Cough Syrup’, which warmed up the audience to prepare for psychedelic and other sensations that come with music.   Next came the local band ‘Gold Planet’ with the song “Love without ends” followed by upcoming artiste Vipitoli with her teenage croon.   Moajungla, the lithe singer gave a lot of room for the audience to cheer with Dixie Chicks’ “Wide open spaces” and her next solo - Dolly Parton’s hit “Coat of many colours”- clearly stole the hearts of majority of the audience, both young and old alike.   And just when you thought the music was about to end, wonder who entered the stage? Abiogenesis, one of the most renowned Naga folk and western fusion band with the husband and wife duo Moa and Aren rocking the stage as always with their charisma and original music. Their original singles like “Riverside” and “Saramati” accompanied by the melodious haunt of the “banhum” had the audience roaring for more.   After their exit entered Mengu Soukhrie with “Killing me softly inside”, a song performed to perfection with Mengu’s professional and confidence pose.   In the interim, Lok Sabha MP, the chief guest of the event, said Nagaland is a land of festivals and that festivals always come with songs and dances. Rio said since the inception of Music Task Force (MTF), the state has witnessed a phenomenal increase in Naga musicians who are making a niche in the music industry. The former chief minister also said music is synonymous with peace and if music is propagated, then peace will reign in the state.   Escorted by Enfield motorcycle borne musicians and youths, guitar Guru Neil Zaza took the stage by storm as the audience chanted “we want Neil Zaza, we want Neil Zaza”, and true to his reputation, Zaza enthralled the crowd for more than thirty minutes with his guitar riffs and magical fingers.   Other local bands including Gluttones, U-Turn, Wangyat Wangsu and the Band, GCKA girls band, Jano Nyekha and Brainstorm Island also showcased their talents.   Former minister, Azo Nienu, MLA, also graced the event.
