World Oral Health Day was observed by the Department of Health & Family Welfare in Kohima and Dimapur on March 20.
Kohima, March 22 (MExN): On occasion of the World Oral Health Day 2022, a programme was organised at the SPMU Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland by the State National Oral Health Programme Nagaland division under the theme ‘Be Proud Of Your Mouth.’
The special guest, Dr Thorhusie Katiry, Mission Director (NHM) exhorted the gathering on the importance of maintaining good oral health. He asked everyone to take good care of the oral cavity, the toughest structure of our body by following a healthy diet.
The theme was highlighted by Dr Meribeni Odyuo, Jt Director & SPO (NOHP) and presented the key messages for the campaign. She stressed on the need for the people, health professionals, schools, governments and policy makers to champion the importance of good oral health for overall health and make a difference to the lives of people everywhere.
Dimapur: World Oral Health Day was observed by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Dimapur in collaboration with Youth Ministry, Thahekhu Village Baptist Church on March 20 under the theme ‘Be Proud of your Mouth for your Happiness and Wellbeing’ at Thahekhu Baptist Church, Dimapur.
Dr Reyosalu Lase Vizo, District Oral Health Officer under National Oral Health Program spoke on the theme and encourage the youths to take care of their oral health. She also informed that besides maintaining good oral hygiene like brushing your teeth twice a day, one must also avoid risk factors such as tobacco, alcohol, and intake of too many sugary foods. Eating lots of fibrous foods like fruits and vegetables and drinking plenty of water also helps in maintaining not only good oral health but also helps in the overall wellbeing of our body.
Free distribution of toothpastes, toothbrushes, calcium tablets, and pamphlets on oral health was carried out after the programme. A total of 170 youths attended the programme.
