Longleng, November 13 (MExN): District Health Society Longleng observed World Pneumonia Day cum District launching of SAANS (Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) at CMO conference hall, Longleng on November 13.
Dr Imtijungshi Aier, DPO (RCH/UIP) Longleng in his presentation stated that World Pneumonia Day is a global event to spread awareness, educate people to combat Pneumonia disease and to create awareness on the importance of clean air all over the world, “because every breath count.”
It also focuses on creating ample opportunity and encourage for the global action to fight the toll due to Pneumonia and other respiratory infection. He spoke about goal of SAANS which aims to significantly reduce childhood Pneumonia cases through public awareness, community engagement, strengthened healthcare services.
The special guest, Imkongnukla Ao, NCS EAC HQ Longleng in her speech appealed all the participants to give full support to create and increase awareness about Pneumonia in the community. She also spoke on how NGOs, ASHAs and churches play a very active role to spread awareness strongly and to control indoor air pollution as it is one of the main factors that causes Pneumonia. She also encouraged everyone to recommit oneself and to give good efforts and hope for a better result.
The programme was chaired by Dr Imsongienla, invocation by Manpong, welcome note by Dr Tiasunep CMO Longleng and vote of thanks by Tongang.
The launching programme was also observed in all the PHC CHC HWC and SC under Longleng district.
