
Kohima, May 7 (MExN): As the world celebrates World Red Cross Day on May 8, the day Jean Henry Dunant, founder of Red Cross, was born, Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has urged to reiterate that 'selfless service' lies at the heart of the Red Cross movement and “all of us should have a generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion which are essential for nurturing humanity.”
The Governor in a message expressed belief that the Nagaland Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) since its inception has grown and has been rendering humanitarian network in the State by promoting humanitarian values, disaster response and health care in the community.
He further paid gratitude to the founder of Red Cross for “giving the world such a wonderful organization.” As the Chairperson of Nagaland IRCSN, he also appreciated all the office bearers, members of the IRCSN for their hard work and sincerity in helping the needy people of the State. The Governor wished the Nagaland IRCSN success in all their future endeavors.
The World Red Cross Day celebrated every year, he added, creates more awareness about the activities of the Red Cross and its importance.
