World Red Cross Day: IRCS Peren observes with jail inmates

PEREN, MAY 9 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society, Peren district branch observed the World Red Cross Day on May 8 at the District Jail, Peren with Deputy Commissioner Peren as the chief guest.  

The DC in his speech encouraged the jail inmates to be reformed and to become good citizens. The DC Peren in his capacity as the president of the IRCS Peren also donated Rs. 10,000/- towards the jail inmate’s welfare fund.  

Albert, Chairman IRCS Peren spoke on the topic, ‘Everywhere for Everyone’ and Haiku Nza, Pastor PTBC shared the gospel. The programme was chaired by Haideutad, Vice-Chairman IRCS Peren, while Maleu, Jail Chaplin offered prayer, Dr.D.K Zeliang joint secretary IRCS Peren proposed the vote of thanks and the Jail inmates presented 3 special songs.

The programme was well attended by government officers, NGOs and representatives of various schools. The programme was followed by light refreshment and a volley ball match between the Red Cross members and jail inmates where the inmates emerged winner.
