On World Red Cross Day, Nagaland Governor urges for generous heart, kind speech

Kohima, May 5 (MExN): On the occasion of World Red Cross Day (May 8), the Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has urged to pay tribute to the founder of Red Cross, Henry Dunant and to the millions of volunteers who have followed in his footsteps to provide assistance and humanitarian service to the vulnerable.  

He also called on all to have a generous heart, kind speech and a life of service and compassion which are essential for nurturing humanity.  

World Red Cross Day, he said, is an occasion to “reaffirm our commitment to relieve human suffering, protect human lives and dignity and respond to emergencies.”  

In a message, Acharya further noted that Nagaland chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), since its inception, has grown and has been rendering humanitarian network in the State by providing humanitarian values, disaster response and health care in the community.  

“On this significant day let us reiterate that 'selfless service' lies at the heart of the Red Cross Movement and all of us should reaffirm our commitment to relieve human suffering, protect human lives and dignity and respond to emergencies,” he urged.  

As the president of IRCS, Nagaland State Branch, he appreciated all office bearers, members of IRCSN for their hard work and sincerity in helping the needy people of the State. He wished the Branch success in all future endeavours.
