DIMAPUR, JANUARY 31 (MExN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) today questioned the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) “whose jurisdiction is limited to the municipal area, that on what authority and ground it has issued a directive to Western Sumi Hoho to enforce bandh in Niuland Sub-Division on February 1.”
A press note from the WSH President, Zheshito Sumi and General Secretary, Vikato Achumi reminded the NCD that WSH “is not only an apex body over 167 Sumi villages in Dimapur Districts but its jurisdiction encompasses even Dimapur urban areas where its bonified citizens reside and WSH as an apex body in Western Sumi area is not under any civil body and is autonomous.” It meanwhile informed that the WSH would “summon NCD officials at appropriate time for explanation and justification at its office.” The WSH further directed its unit the Sumi Council Dimapur and all its bonafide members that “henceforth, any directives from NCD should be kept in abeyance till further notice from WSH.”
It may be noted that the NCD had in a press release on January 30 entrusted the WSH and the Chakro Public Organization (CPO) to “look after” Niuland ADC HQ and Medziphema ADC HQ respectively with regard to the February 1 bandh. The NCD however later that night revoked that particular part of their statement.
