DIMAPUR, MARCH 5 (MExN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has extended full support to the recent statement made by Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on the issue of multiple taxations and harassment faced by the business community in Dimapur from various Naga national political groups.
“The continuous harassment and imposition of multiple taxations on the business community by various Naga political groups have become a major impediment to the growth and development of businesses in Dimapur. The business community has been facing intimidation and summons letters, which is impeding their ability to operate and thrive,” the WSH said in a press statement through its media cell.
The DCCI has rightly warned that if the unabated multiple taxation, intimidation, and summons are not stopped immediately, it will go for indefinite shutter down. This is a serious threat to the economic stability and sustainability of Dimapur, and action must be taken to address this issue, it went on to add.
Extending solidarity with the DCCI’s stand and call for an immediate end to the harassment and imposition of multiple taxations, the WSH emphasized that the business community plays a vital role in the economic growth and development of any region, therefore imperative that they are able to operate without fear of extortion and harassment.
It has urged all concerned authorities and Naga political groups to come together to address this issue and ensure the safety and security of the business community in Dimapur.
