WSKH on affiliation to DDVCCA

Dimapur, October 17 (MExN): The Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) reminded the Sumis to desist from affiliating those villages that are traditionally setup under Sumi’s customs and traditions, into the Dimapur District Village Council Chairman Association (DDVCCA).

In a press release issued by its President Vihuto Yeptho and General Secretary Kuhovi V Zhimomi, the WSKH further stated that Sumi tribe has a “unique institution of GB ship and the laws governing the Sumi villages emanates from age long customs and traditions, beside the Village Council Act, 1978.”

It therefore urged the Sumi Villages “to always uphold and protect the sanctity of the Sumi customary laws and make an endeavour to pave harmonious way to let our customs prevail in times of variation or conflict between our customary laws and other statutes.”

The WSKH also lauded the formation of Dimapur District Village Council Chairman Association (DDVCCA) and its newly elected team of leaders.
