DIMAPUR, AUGUST 3 (MExN): The Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) has urged the PWD department (Roads & Bridges) to give priority towards the improvement of New Showuba-Seithekima Road which is the only means of road communication of more than hundred of villages beyond Chathe River after 4th Mile Bridge collapsed last month.
In statement, WSKH general secretary, Kuhovi Zhimo felt that the concerned department is neglecting the road as the road remains in a deplorable condition causing much inconvenience to hundreds of people commuting on the road every day.
It said the department had dumped sand gravel on the said road only on one occasion whereas business owners of the effected villages had been constantly putting in collective effort to give a facelift to the road.
The WSKH appealed to the concerned department to understand the hardships being faced by the people and to act upon it.
Meanwhile, the Hoho has lauded the effort of Joint Action Committee for 4th Mile Bridge to construct a temporary suspension near the site of collapsed bridge. The construction works for the new suspension bridge has commenced after the concerned department provided the materials and expenses while the Joint Action Committee provided manpower.
