WSKH says spot verification at Lamhainamdi was ‘biased’

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): The Western Sumi Kukami Hoho today stated that the spot verification at Lamhainamdi headed by IGP (Range) Limasunep Jamir along with Peren District Administration on September 3 “is completely lopsided and biased.”

A press release from WSKH President, Vihuto Yeptho and General Secretary, Kawoto Aye said that it is “irked” at the report of a joint spot verification at the Lamhainamdi and some villages of Aqahuto area under Dhansiripar Sub Division, Dimapur.

“The areas which were reportedly verified falls within Dimapur district, however, the verification team never intimated the concerned Dimapur district administration or the concerned village/villages of Dimapur district. Any such exercise without due concern of the district administration of both the district especially when the issue of boundary demarcation is in pending dispute is considered arbitrary and prejudicial and the WSKH is constraint to question the real intentions of such one sided exercise,” it stated.

The WSKH further questioned the wisdom of the joint team of Nagaland Police and Peren District Administration on their reported reminder to maintain ‘status quo’. In this regard, the WSKH reminded that the Chief Secretary, vide an order dated June 25, 2019 issued a status quo order and vide a subsequent order dated July 8, 2019 directed that, “if any people are still present in the disputed area, they are to be immediately vacated out of the disputed area…”

It said that “therefore upon witnessing the illegal settlement of the so called ‘Lamhanamdi,’ the joint team ought to have promptly evicted all illegal settlers…as per the standing orders of the Government.”

The WSKH said that the failure to enforce standing government order compiled with the unauthorized directive of the team for status quo is “prejudicial” and “bound to further complicate the already existing dispute.”
