DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 12 (MExN): The annual meet of Western Sumi Sports Association (WSSA) and 20th M. B. E. Zhuikhu Memorial Football Trophy got underway this morning at K. Hetoi village under Niuland sub-division.
Minister, PHED, government of Nagaland, N. Jacob Zhimomi graced the inaugural function of the meet as special guest. Kicking off the event, Jacob set a challenge for players to have strong determination and discipline as they purse sports as nothing can be achieved without hardwork.
He also lauded the effort of the WSSA to provide such platform to sports enthusiasts to come together and display their talents, while also learning from one another to enhance their capabilities.
Jacob Zhimomi unfurled the association flag and declared the week long meet open. Zheshito Swu, president, Western Sumi Hoho exhorted the gathering.
The event will conclude on December 17 with Akihito Zhimomi, president, Sumi Games and Sports Association, Nagaland as chief guest.
The inaugural function commenced with an invocation prayer by Tokivi Yeptho, president NAPF and welcomed address by Kakuho Yeptho, head GB, K. Hetoi village.
Mughato Aye, president, WSSA proposed the vote of thanks for the inaugural function while Yevito Chishi, games secretary, WSSA administered meet oath to the participating teams.
