WSSU appeals NSCN (IM) to revoke ‘Azha’

Dimapur, October 12 (MExN): Voicing out its opinion on the NSCN (IM) ‘Azha’ against Goa Governor, Dr SC Jamir and state bureaucrat, Alemtemshi, the Western Sumi Students’ Union has strongly appealed the NSCN (IM) to revoke its ‘Azha’ against the politician and the bureaucrat after considering the ‘uproar’ of the people as the NSCN (IM) is a people’s government.

“The Union appeals to the GPRN to reconsider its ‘azha’ and request GPRN to uphold popular voice and to respect the freedom of expression and thought,” the WSSU President Kanio Chishi and General Secretary Hoto P Zhimo said in a press release received here today.

The WSSU wondered why the NSCN (IM) took so long to react to the ‘issue’ and passed the ‘azha’ after such a long time. The WSSU said that the ‘issue’ has been debated through local media and ‘it should also be taken into consideration the apologies and regretting statements of the author’.

The WSSU further stood by the statement of state bureaucrat, Alemtemshi Jamir, who declared in the media recently that he being a dedicated and sincere government servant is obliged to perform his duty as directed by the politicians in power and that he happened to be at the wrong time at the wrong place and that he cannot be held responsible for his action if there is any.

In this regard, the Western Sumi Students’ Union appealed the NSCN (IM) to revoke its declaration after taking into consideration the appeals from different sections of the Naga society and intellectuals, “as we (WSSU) cannot find no good memories digging the graves”.
