Wokha, April 4 (MExN): The Wokha Village Council (WVC) and its sub-ordinates bodies – Wokha Village Students’ Union, Wokha Village Eloe Ekhung, and Wokha Village Youth Organisation – have strongly condemned the “unjustifiable arrest of its bona fide member and his wife and helper by 32 Assam Rifles after ransacking his private residence at Burma Camp, Dimapur on April 1.”
A condemnation note from S. Yanphamo Tungoe, Chairman and Zujanbemo Lotha, Secretary of WVC maintained that Zaremo Murry is a peace loving citizen and dedicated Naga National Worker.
“Arresting him along with his family is shocking and comes as a surprise to us knowing that he joined NSCN-IM in 2016 after discharging himself from the NSCN (R),” it stated.
The organizations advised the security forces to respect the ceasefire ground rules in letter and spirit and also to maintain maximum restraint in future “since the action of the 32 AR is a clear instance of violation of the ceasefire ground rules and a threat to the ongoing negotiation and the Naga society for the long awaited peaceful solution.”
The apex bodies of Wokha Village further demanded immediate justice and urged the authority concerned to book the erring security officer and personnel as per the law and also release the apprehended persons unconditionally.
