Taking Mokokchung to another level in the internet world, a website developed by a local youth – www.emokokchung.com – was formally launched today at the MMC Shopping Complex by senior journalist & General Secretary of Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) Sashimeren Jamir here today.
The website was personally developed by a 29 year old young man, Wati Longkumer hailing from Longsa village. An IT diploma holder from Institute of Communication & Information Technology, Mokokchung, Wati Longkumer dedicated the website – www.emokokchung.com – to the people of Mokokchung and Nagaland.
“This website is designed to highlight the information Mokokchung town. The content of this site includes stories of different wards of Mokokchung town, the ‘where’ and ‘what’ of the town’s educational institutions, health centres, lodges, tourist spots, offices, shopping hubs etc,” said Wati Longkumer. He also disclosed that the website has space where articles, poems and different write-ups of like-minded people will be entertained and also introduce e-books.
“This website will keep the visitors informed and save their time in knowing the details of Mokokchung town,” said Wati Longkumer while soliciting likeminded people to share their ideas, contribute their articles and photos, comments and also advertise in the website. His office is located in the MMC shopping complex and it also caters to computer solutions, photo restoration, etc.
While launching the website, the MPC General Secretary Sashimeren Jamir, congratulated the entrepreneur for his farsightedness in creating the website and encouraged him to be consistent in hosting the site with sincerity and dedication.
Saying that the world today is becoming more and more internet oriented, Sashimeren predicted that Mokokchung, or for that matter, even Nagaland will one day become a place which is run mostly through the internet.
Citing the recent news that Nagaland is ranked in the top among the northeast states in internet readiness, Sashimeren said that the day is not far, if everything goes as the trend, then internet would surely be the best tool for disseminating information, conducting businesses etc. In this connection, the senior journalist advised Wati Longkumer to reach out to the local entrepreneurs in marketing their products and also encouraging the photographers etc.
The MPC general secretary also assured that the local media persons will render help in their best possible way. With the launch of this website, it is expected that the net savvy people of Mokokchung can advertise about the town and also the Naga people to the outer world in a more effect way through the incredible world of internet.
