The dilapidated X-Ray room at the District TB Centre, Tuensang is being renovated since the first week of September. The centre which was inaugurated in the year 2002 was without an X-Ray machine.
Along with 7 other districts of Nagaland, Tuensang also recently received one X-Ray machine along with all necessary equipments.
A staff at the DTC, Tuensang stated that, “The room is being renovated with double layered walls inside in order to avoid radiation hazards. Earlier, the roof was leaking with water and new CGI sheets have also been placed, plastering is also over and we will also seal off the ventilators”.
“We cannot say when the room will be completely ready with all the machines installed because it will be done by engineers and technician from other places and due to COVID-19 pandemic it has become difficult for them to also travel and everything has been postponed,” the staff added.
The staff also mentioned that, “It was learnt that earlier, many of the TB patients did not avail the monthly nutritional support of Rs 500 per month. So, now we make sure that each patient is receiving it in their bank accounts until and unless they are cured.”
Along with the nation’s fight to eliminate TB by the year 2025, a new medicine regime under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) has also been introduced which many of the people are not aware of.
