Shamator, January 31 (MExN):With no positive response from the concerned department regarding an ultimatum to address the shortage of teachers in schools within its jurisdiction, the Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) stated today that it will undertake an indefinite agitation from February 2.
The ultimatum, submitted on January 18, had given a 14-day deadline to the school education department to redress the shortage of teachers in schools across the Yimkhiung jurisdiction. However, the department has failed to provide any positive and practical response or action within the given time frame, compelling the YAA to commence an indefinite agitation, maintained the apex organisation of the Yimkhiung community in a press communiqué.
To mark the beginning of the indefinite agitation, public rallies will be held on February 2 in Shamator town, Chessore town, and Pungro town, the YAA announced. According to the YAA, the provisions of the agitation include the closure of government offices, schools, and restrictions on the movement of government-registered vehicles, among others.
During the period of enforcing various provisions of the indefinite agitation, the department would be solely responsible for any untoward incidents or whatsoever, the YAA asserted. The YAA also directed all federating units and members to strictly enforce the agitation provisions within the purview of the respective union and remain prepared for any eventuality.
