YAA stir: TVSU restricts tourist or Researchers to Mount Saramati

KIPHIRE, FEBRUARY 1 (MExN): The Thanamir Village Students’ Union (TVSU) has informed that no tourists or researchers will be allowed to visit or stay in Mount Saramati or any tourist spots from February 2 onwards until further notice. 

In a press communiqué, the TVSU stated that the direction has been issued in compliance with the directive from the Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) in connection with the failure of Directorate of School Education, Nagaland to meet its demand to redress shortage of teachers within the 14 days. 

No tourist/trekker (s) would be allowed to visit Mount Saramati or any other tourist hotspot within Thanamir jurisdiction, it said. 

Further, it directed research group stationed in Thanamir viz Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF) or any other research group or individual to cease any research activities.

The YAA, the apex students’ body of the Yimkhiung community, on January 30 announced its indefinite stir within its jurisdiction from February 2, demanding redress to the shortages of school teachers.
