Pledges to dedicate virgin forest for promoting peace through nature
 

Wokha, September 24 (MExN): Yanbemo Lotha, Associate Pastor, Lotha Baptist Church, Dimapur was conferred the 12th Peace Award during the commemoration of International Day of Peace cum 15th Peace Channel Foundation Day organised by Peace Channel on September 21 at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Wokha.


Garrol Lotha, Media Cell, Peace Channel in a press release stated that Yanbemo Lotha, winner of Peace Award 2019, Peace Channel in his response said that winning the award has made him feel more responsible towards the cause and work for the people. He elucidated about Peace Channel’s vision of making Nagaland a peaceful state by 2030 and encouraged the people of Wokha to be united and work collectively towards making the district and the state peaceful. 


Marking the International Day of Peace under the theme “Climate action for Peace”, Yanbemo Lotha and his family pledged to dedicate 9 hectares of virgin forest belonging to them towards promoting peace through nature.


Chief Guest E. Mhonbemo Patton, Principal Accountant General, Nagaland in his address stated that that the theme of the programme ‘Transformed to transform’ can only be achieved by seven key actions of peace i.e. dream, think, speak, share, pray, work and live for peace. 


Dr. Fr. CP Anto, Director, Peace Channel in his welcome speech said that the Peace Award was conferred every year since 2008 to individuals for their contribution and selfless services towards peace building among people and relation between various communities in the state. The award seeks to encourage and set an example in acknowledging people for believing in the possibilities that Peace is possible and in tested times people have proven that for peace to prevail one must live it as a lifestyle.


Earlier, Peace Rally 2019 was flagged of by Mhondamo Ovung, President Lotha Hoho, Wokha and ZuchopeniEzung, President Lotha EloeHoho from Don Bosco Youth Centre, Wokha. 


Meanwhile, the title of Mr & Miss Peace Channel 2019 were won by Lithan E Tungoe and Yokoni Jewel O-Kinghen. Thungchobeni begged the 1st position for the motivational talk competition and Rhondeno stood the second position.
