The decision taken by the state cabinet to declare 2010 as the “Year of Entrepreneurs” evoked mixed response from different quarters. “It is a fantastic initiative of the government,” said Theja Meru, manager of Dream Café group while talking to this correspondent.

Meru was also hopeful that such initiative would encourage the entrepreneurs to grow further. “It would brighten the spirit of entrepreneurship among the Naga youth,” he added.  Meru also said that such decision would open ways for self reliance.
It would also enhance the trends of creativity and innovation among the Naga youth, where many would realize that a time has come not only to solely look for “free meal” or government but to work hard and live independently.

Similarly, Neichute Duolo, managing director of Entrepreneurs Associative, Kohima was also appreciative of the declaration, adding that it has opened a new chapter for the future of Nagas.

He maintained that entrepreneurs are the wealth creator, job creator, opportunity creator, and the declaration of the year 2010 as the Year of Entrepreneurs will translate such ideas into a reality. “It is a historical landmark decision,” he said adding that such decision has fulfilled the long felt need of the Naga youth.

“We want government to see the genuine entrepreneurs for true development of private sectors in the interest of the future generation,” said Achilo Thong, president, Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland. Another observer said the Government should identify the genuine entrepreneurs and help them.
