‘Year of Youth Empowerment, a great success’

Kohima, Jan 17 (MExN): The NPF youth wing Nagaland has lauded the peoples mended DAN government under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio for initiating the Year of Youth Empowerment and termed it as a great success. A press communiqué issued by the central youth wing stated that in creating more self employment altogether 1436 unemployed youth were given financial assistance under the CM Corpus fund. The release stated that within a span of two years, at least 744 unemployed Naga youth were sent to ITFT Chandigarh from which 479 youths have been placed in both private and government sectors in and outside Nagaland. 

While speaking volumes of the ongoing Northeast Sports Festival in the capital, it stated that the Year of Youth empowerment promoted the rich cultural heritage of our people and inculcated the minds of the youngsters about the importance of the same by organizing cultural exchange programmes in the state. Further, to tape the potential of the young talented Naga youths, musical concert and talent shows were also organized frequently, stated the release. 

However, the NPF youth wing has expressed dismayed at the procrastinating stance adopted by the UPA government at Delhi for not fulfilling the commitment of providing 25000 employment (RS. 25000 crores) for the Naga youth by the then Prime Minister of India, Atal Behari Vajpyee during his visit to Nagaland in 2004, the release added. 

While reaffirming its full support and cooperation to the DAN government, the NPF youth wing has welcomed the ‘Year of Farmers 2006’ and appealed to all section of the people to cooperate with the policies so as to improve the living standard of the villagers.
