Dimapur, November 3 (MExN): Yemhi Memorial College (YMC) celebrated its 3rd Literary & Cultural Fest 2025 on October 30 at the college campus in Nepali Basti, Dimapur, under the theme “Celebrating Diversity of Culture.”
Organised by the Yemhi Memorial College Student Council (YMCSC), the fest aimed to promote cultural unity and showcase the rich traditions and talents of students from various communities.
The formal session featured cultural performances, including “Aphi Kighile” by the Sumi Cultural Troupe and “Sohi Mozho” by the Tenyimi Cultural Troupe, reflecting the diversity and unity of different tribes. B.A 1st Semester students added a lively touch with a creative drama presentation.

The event’s special guest, S Otova, Senior Grade Deputy Registrar (Retd), Nagaland University, and Vice President of Sumi Hoho, Zunheboto, paid homage to the late Rev Yemhi, in whose memory the college was established, and commended the fest’s focus on cultural and literary aspects. He stressed the importance of preserving cultural identity while adapting to modern changes and highlighted the role of educational institutions in bridging gaps created by technological advancement and artificial intelligence. He further wished the college continued success and an enjoyable celebration for students.
The second session featured competitions including Public Speaking, Voice of Yemhians, and indigenous games. Jenny Tamang won the Public Speaking competition, while Manwang Konyak was declared the winner of Voice of Yemhians Season 2. In indigenous games, Olika and Lawrence Marak won the snail-eating contest for girls and boys, respectively, while the arm wrestling competition was won by Achipong.
The fest concluded with an awards ceremony led by Vice Principal Toyeto Chishi, with Paunamheing Perang, member of the Literary and Cultural Committee, delivering the closing remarks. Earlier, the event began with a welcome address by Vice Principal Chishi, while YMCSC’s Itovi Yeptho highlighted the purpose and vision of the fest.
