Yimchunger chief arrested; ultimatum to govt

Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Yimchunger Akhearu Arihako (YAA) has served an ultimatum to the state government to release the president of Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) and “his colleague” who were arrested on August 25 in Kiphire by the Police.

Claiming that the president of the council is “much above the king,” a note from the YAA stated that branding him as a “criminal or wrongdoer can never be a good reputation.”

The YAA also asserted that the arrest of the YTC president and “his colleague” without “any clue or rhyme” is a worst humiliation which “goes beyond human tolerance and comprehension.”

The YAA also maintained that the incident is an “insult” to the whole Yimchungru community “from Mt. Saramati to Shinyeru.” The YAA has warned to take an own course of action if the state government fails to meet the demand.
