Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): The Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) and Kiphire District Sumi Hoho (KDSH) today jointly appealed for upholding the MOU signed among three tribal bodies and the legislators.
A press communiqué, informed that the Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) and Kiphire District Sumi Hoho (KDSH) held a joint meeting at Dimapur today, where it was resolved to support and stick to the demand raised by the Kiphire district Sumi Students Union (KDSSU), Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SKK) and Yimchunger Akheru Arihako (YAA) on the controversial welcome gate erected at Ngoromi Village with the words written ‘Welcome to Sangtam land’.
The communiqué asserted that to respect and honour each others’ rights, the joint body also resolved to appeal for upholding the memorandum of understanding (MoU) which was reached amongst three tribal bodies and the legislators.
The joint body further resolved to urge the concern administration to immediately rectify the writings, failing which the joint body will be compelled to take an own course of action whatever deemed fit and for which the joint body would not be held responsible, the communiqué warned.
The different tribes living in Kiphire district have been offended by the writings on the welcome gate of one village which was erected earlier this year. It had caused a lot of tension in the district earlier this month.
