
DIMAPUR, JAN 12 (MExN): The 39th General Conference of the Yimchungrü Akherü Arih-ako (YAA) scheduled from January 11-14 at its HQ, Shamator, is underway peacefully without any hindrances, despite a breakdown in law and order during the last few weeks, Press and Information Secretary of the student body, L Chuba, today informed.
The first session of the introductory programme is said to have been held successfully on the evening of January 11 wherein a host of delegates from various villages and constituent units attended the programme.
Tuensang Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha and Yimchungrü Tribal Council President Thsesong exhorted the gathering. “The DC Tuensang urged the gathering to follow the principle of ‘forgive and forget’ in the true Christian spirit.”
The inaugural ceremony was held on January 12 with grand success where Parliamentary Secretary, P Chuba Chang, attended as Chief Guest, the YAA said in a release.
The MLA is said to have appreciated the Yimchungrü people for maintaining peace and tolerance in the region. He questioned the students on what their contribution towards the community would be, in return of all the hardships they had undergone in organizing the conference, the release said. Chuba Chang is said to have further questioned the students on whether they had the determination to become successful in life by pursuing various professions. He asked the people not to repay back evil for an evil as development and education thrives where there is peace. He pointed out that there are a good number of industrial centers in Yimchungrü areas “but when we are only boastful about it and lacking behind in quality education nothing shall work out.”
“He also appreciated the people of Pungro area where good number of educated people are coming up.”
The Parliamentary Secretary donated a sum of Rs 30,000 to the YAA fund.
