Shamator, December 24 (MExN): The people of Yimkhiungrüs from Shamator, Pungro, Chessore and Old-Showuba circles participated in a mega rally demanding to "expedite Shamator District upgradation as assured by the State Government unconditionally to the people of Yimkhiungrüs."
According to a DIPR report on Thursday, the public of Shamator gathered in thousands under the agies of Yimkhiung Tribal Council on December 23. The rally was led by S Throngso, President, Yimkhiung Tribal Council and his colleagues, Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako, Yimkhiung Women Organisation and Shamator Town Public Forum.
After the rally from the public ground to ADC office, the gathering submitted the representation to district administration.
Meanwhile, the report stated that Yimkhiung community is the second largest in terms of population and territory in Eastern Nagaland and the citizens of Yimkhiungs are divided into four different districts and seven Assembly Constituencies. The Yimkhiung Tribal Council is demanding "united and immediate district for the people of Yimkhiung unconditionally at the earliest", it stated.
